Part 2: Camera Connections

This camera supports two connection ways, wired and wireless. If the distance between the router and camera installed place up to 30m(100ft), we highly recommend using the wired connection, or else, choose the wifi connection. But remember, wireless makes it easy to install and save your installation cost.

After the self-testing, the camera will turn on its wifi signal, called AP spot.the name is IPCAM-XXXXXX, X refers a string of numbers.

 

Part 3:  Camera Remote Views

#1 Via Smartphone /Tablet PC

Step 1: Free APP Installation
Download and install free APP "Camhi" from Google Play or Apple, App Store

Step 2: Connect to camera's AP Spot
Power to the camera, it will create a wireless signal named IPCAM-XXXXX. open the wifi setting of your phone and connect the camera's wifi signal to your smartphone, and connection password is 01234567

Step 3: Run APP "CamHi" & Add Camera to "CamHi"

After inputting the UID, press "√" in the top right corner, several seconds later, add camera successful.

Step 4: Wi-Fi Setting
Click the setting button beside the online camera, find Wi-Fi Setting option, click it. Connect to your home router by typing the password of your router.

#2 Via PC (Windows and Mac)

If you want to use your PC(NOT desktop) to remote view, then both the RJ45 port and power port should be connected, and both the camera and PC should be connected to the same router. (See "Wired connection" on "Part 3")

Step 1: "Search Tool" Installation
Install the "Search Tool" that comes with the product, run it to find the IP address of this camera. Also, you can get the IP address on Camhi APP by clicking the "Device Information." (go back to "Step 4: Wi-Fi Setting" on part 2)

Click "Next" can modify network parameters of the camera if you need to change  them(for advanced users)

Step 2: Visit Camera on PC
Visit the camera through IE browser by input the IP address on Windows PC. Here take 192.168.1.18 for example.

In the browser, you can view the image and configure all parameters of the camera. We highly recommend using the "Internet Explorer" browser.

Step 3: Set Wi-Fi

After finishing the Wi-Fi setting, you can remove the LAN cable and visit this camera on your PC even though this camera does not connect to the router through the ethernet cable.

#3 Via CMS (Client Management Software)

Connect and manage the multiple cameras via CMS on windows PC. CMS stands for "Client Management Software," it can manage many IP cameras together. If you have many security cameras to handle, then it would be the right choice. When using CMS, please make sure that you have completed the WiFi settings. If not, please follow the wired connection.(See "Wired connection" on "Part 3")

Part 4: FAQs

#1 No power at the camera at all. I tried many times.
Answer:  We recommend you check the power adapter, and adapter connection, especially when you are using the extension power cable make sure they are okay.

#2 How can I operate the pan and tilt? The "CamHi" app doesn't have an Icon for the PTZ function.
Answer: You can swipe with your finger by touching the screen to make the pan and tilt rotate.

#3 I downloaded the Camhi app on my Android, but when I click to add camera the app flashes momentarily a screen for like 1 second & the closes, so I cannot get to the screen to add the camera on the Camhi app.
Answer: Usually, this was caused by the smartphone's low version, or the phone is out of memory. Also you can try the free APP Camhipro.

#4 I cannot get this to work on my mac! The downloads say mac but the format when I try open is for windows.
Answer: You can follow the online user manual, this camera comes the Mac version software.

#5 The camera was continually clicking and making ratcheting sounds when not even accessed. Too noisy for location.Video quality poor for • the camera, of which I own several others.
Answer: It is a two-way audio PTZ camera, and if the installation location is noisy, it will record the nearby loud voice. but we can turn off the sound on APP, about the video quality, please convert SD to HD on the free APP "Camhi")

#6 Does it operate on 2.4 or 5 GHz?
↪Answer: This camera only supports 2.4G.

#7 Does it have a phone app?
↪Answer: Yes, the APP is Camhi; you can download the free APP on google play or apple store. Quick setup to your iPhone devices follow the steps:

  • Step 1: Only power to the camera and leave the ethernet port empty
  • Step 2: Connect to the wireless PTZ camera's wifi signal, its wifi name is IPCAM-X (X stands for a string of number)
  • Step 3: Open the Camhi APP, add the camera by scan the QR code or input the UID number one by one
  • Step 4: Wifi setting (this step is essential, it is to connect to the camera to your home router, to get into the internet so that you can remote view and control at anywhere anytime)
  • Step 5: Connect your iPhone or tablet PC to your router's wifi signal.

#8 How do I convert the downloaded .264 files from the camera to MP4 format?
↪Answer: It can not convert these .264 videos, the come-with software, named Hiplayer, can only view them. But, you can use the new version APP called Camhipro to watch, download and convert the .264 video to .mp4

#9 What type of power connector to the camera? How long of cord and can a USB power transformer supply the electric?
↪Answer: AC Adaptor
INPUT: 100-240V~50-60Hz 0.65A
OUTPUT: 12V 2A
The adapter is 5ft, about 1.5m, as long as it is AC power and 12V, at least 0.5A, they can run this wireless PTZ camera. But a 2.1x5.5mm power extension cable is available for it.

#10 Can this camera be viewed on fire tv?
↪Answer: We are so sorry, this wireless PTZ camera can not support fire TV, but support smartphone, tablet PC, PC, and NVR viewing.

#11 Is this Onvif compatible?
↪Answer: Yes, it is Onvif compatible, support Hikvision NVR, cause Hikvision has its private protocol, so when you are using the Hikvision NVR, you need to turn off the restart timer of this wireless PTZ camera.

#12 Can this send video to FTP?
↪Answer: Yes, and also can send pictures to FTP. When alarm triggered, the equipment will alarm in many ways, as shown in the below:
1. send alert and pictures to email
2. send captured images to assigned FTP server
3. send video recording to designated FTP server
4. capture a picture, then save to TF Card
5. Recording a video for 15 seconds, then save to TF card (including 1-3 seconds warning before video)
6. linkage Preset: after the alarm, call preset
7. alarm capture quantity, setting as required (1-3 pieces)

If you want to set the alarm to upload pictures and video to the FTP server, please pick the 3." Save Picture on the FTP Server" and" Save Video on the FTP Server."
Note: If using the FTP function, you need to apply the user name and password from FTP Server firstly, and apply a specific storage space at the same time, also asking the user to have authority to write and build sub-directory to storage space.

#13 Is there a Windows PC interface for this camera?
↪Answer: Yes. This wireless PTZ camera is both for smartphone, tablet PC and PC. You only need to login to visit the camera's IP address.

#14 How many cameras can be monitored at a time?
↪Answer: About the question"How many cameras can be monitored at a time" can we understand how many cameras you can installed for the place you monitored?
If so, then it doesn't have an upper limit. Usually, Only one is enough; it can cover a large area.

#15 Is it Onvif compatible? In other words, can it be connected to an Onvif NVR?
↪Answer: Yes, compatible to an Onvif NVR,
but for the Hikvision NVR, cause Hikvision has its own private protocol, this camera only support Onvif DO NOT support Hikvision's private protocol. So if you are using the Hikvision NVR, then need:
1. login the wireless PTZ camera's IP address
2. Go to settings→Advanced → Restart timer → Off
we have made a video, and you only need to search the keyword "Homtool" on youtube, the title is
"Turn off the Wireless PTZ Camera's Restart Timer to Compatible with Hikvision NVR"

#16 Can this camera send a video when motion is detected or just a snapshot?
↪Answer: Yes, both can send a video and Max. Three pictures.
And the video and images can be chosen to send to sd card or FTP server.

#17 Does it come with a power supply?
↪Answer: Yes, this white wifi PTZ camera comes with the white power supply; it is 12V 2A.

#18 Can you use this for webcamming?
↪Answer: We are not sure what do you mean by webcamming? Could we understand that you are using this camera with a web browser and do not use the NVR or something?
If so, then yes, this camera can do that, cause the camera with a card slot, you can install the Max. 128G micro card.

But if you mean you are going to use it for webcamming, then we are afraid, it can not do that. This is a surveillance camera. And maybe you can search the keyword "USB PTZ camera" to check if you can find one that you are looking for.

#19 what is needed to set this up and run it?
↪Answer: to set up and run this wireless PTZ camera, you need a wireless router.

Quick Installation:

  • Step 1. Powered to the camera, leave the ethernet port empty
    after you power to the camera, the camera has a wireless signal named IPCAM-XXXXXX (X means different numbers)
  • Step 2. Download the free APP 【Camhi】 on google play or apple store to your smartphone.
  • Step 3. Open the Camhi app to add this wifi camera by choose 【Scan QR code, add UID】 on the top of the bracket.
    (Very Important: Before you scan the code, you must turn off your home wireless signal but choose the wireless ptz camera's wifi signal, all wireless ptz cameras' default password is 01234567 )
  • Step 4. Set the wifi
    After you scan the QR code, the camera will fast get the camera login information, click"√"to next. Then the camera can be added to the app quickly; then you click 【the setting icon beside the online camera】 to set wifi → to choose the 【WI-FI Setting】 → 【WI-FI MANAGER】 to connect to your home wifi router.
  • Step 5. After you finished the wifi setting, then your smartphone will choose to connect to your home wifi automatically. Now you can remote view it anywhere anytime.

(Note: If you can not find your home wifi signal, then re-install the app, Camhi.)

#20 How do I change the duration of the alarm videos?
↪Answer: Hi, you can change the duration through the Camhi APP, follow the step here:

  • step 1, Click the "gear icon" setting
  • step 2, Go to "Action with Alarm."
  • step 3, Go to "Alarm ringing linkage," and you can choose the length of time among 5seconds, 10, 20, and 30seconds. That is the duration of the video alarm.


#21 Is the camera Alexa compatible?
↪Answer: This camera does not support Alexa.

#22 I know it's an outdoor camera but are the built-in mic and speaker waterproof?
↪Answer: Yes, it is built-in audio, and it is two-way audio, with audio in and audio out, most importantly, they are waterproof.
And it is easy to operate on smartphone and tablet PC.

#23 Hi, will this camera be able to work with other software like Amcrest or q-see?
↪Answer: As long as they support Onvif 2.4 or higher version.
